IMPORTANT : PLEASE NOTE

There is a global shortage of some equipment used for taking blood tests.

Anyone who needs a test for urgent health problems will still get one. But where it’s safe to do so, your appointment may be rescheduled.

Given the nature of the shortage, we cannot give an exact date for when the test will be rescheduled, but if your condition or symptoms require it, you will get a test.

If your condition or symptoms change or get worse, please contact the NHS as you would normally.

Covid Restriction Update:

Throughout the pandemic we have strived to make the surgery as safe as possible for all our patients and staff. We will continue to do so going forward.

From the 19th July 2021 nothing will change at the surgery – patients will need to still wear a face covering, socially distance and use hand sanitiser in the surgery and staff will continue to wear PPE.

We do understand the it can be frustrating but we know that when people come to us they are sick and vulnerable (and some cannot receive the Covid vaccinations due to medical reasons) so we feel it would be wrong to not take these small precautions that can continue to try to protect our patients and staff.

In terms of opening up, for those patients who have had the need to be seen by a clinician, we have never ben shut and in fact have consulted with much higher numbers of patients than we did pre-covid (face to face, by phone, by email and by video), not counting vaccinating over 90% of the adult population twice in the last 6 months.

Kingsfold Medical Centre has come so far in trying to minimise the impact of Covid and we are sure you understand that we need to continue to keep the surgery as safe for ALL our patients and teams as we can.

Please Note:

We are open and continue to provide services as we have done throughout the pandemic. This means that for patients, their GP practice is open and providing GP services, with face to face appointments available to those who need them.

The threat of infection from COVID-19 still exists within our communities, and locally patients are being asked to continue to follow guidance in place and take the necessary precautions such as wearing face coverings and practicing good hygiene.

GP practice buildings are public buildings and as such must be kept covid-secure. We already have a process in place for managing entry into the premises to help minimise the risk of anybody spreading the virus. Please continue to follow this.

New ways of providing GP services have been introduced in order to maintain access to your GP practice team while protecting you, others and staff. Triage (making an assessment of your condition and prioritising care accordingly) is an important part of how GP practices work. This has always been in place but has been vitally important during the pandemic.

The majority of common conditions can be assessed and diagnosed by your Doctor by telephone or video consultation. They are experienced and skilled in doing this. Using technology like this will help to protect you, your family and loved ones - and GP practice staff from the potential risk of the virus. For many people, telephone and video consultations offer a more convenient way of speaking with a healthcare professional.

We have been busy throughout the pandemic continuing to provide support to patients as well as being an important part of the COVID-19 vaccine delivery programme. Patients are being reminded that staff are here to help and should be treated with kindness and respect.

PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS

Please note that as from the 1st June 2021, you will no longer be able to order prescriptions via telephone at the surgery.

 This was put in place as a temporary measure due to the pandemic, but as we have now opened our front door again, we can now start looking at reverting back to original ordering methods.

 You can order a repeat prescription via email, using one of the patient app’s such as myGP or the NHS app, or alternatively we will have a prescription box in reception for you to drop your repeat slip into.

Reminder: All appointments are currently telephone triaged. For urgent on the day appointments please call at 8am for morning slot and 12 noon for an afternoon slot. There are also a limited number of non-urgent pre bookable telephone appointments available, Please speak to reception.


Online booking of appointments has been suspended on advice from NHS England. This is because we need to triage all appointments to mitigate the risks associated with potentially infected patients attending the Practice.
