Prevent spread of flu

Measures to prevent spread of flu
Due to rising cases of flu this winter – and taking into consideration the impact of other seasonal illnesses – we have reintroduced face masks in our practice.
Patients with coughs, colds and fevers are also being asked to wear masks when visiting the practice to prevent spreading germs to others.
Why is this needed?
The NHS across the north west is treating an increasing number of patients with flu. It is also seeing an increase in the number of staff who are getting sick due to seasonal illnesses.
Any increase in flu cases and reduction in staff numbers can have a significant impact on services.
The current face mask guidance has been introduced to support safe patient care and to help keep staff well.
We will continue to assess the situation, guided by regional and national data, and will ease the current guidance when appropriate.
